Stranoch Wind Farm

Post by Marc »

The CCC has not been receiving updates on the Stranoch Wind Farm due to it having a previous member's email address that wasn't updated. We have now reached out an amended this so will be bringing you up to date.

The wind farm is holding a drop in session at New Luce Memorial Hall on 2 October from 4.30pm-6pm if any of our community would like to find out more. If you can't make it, please take a look at the leaflet sent to residents local tot he windfarm back in May.

In the meantime, here is the latest update sent out from the windfarm in May of this year:
Good morning,

You are receiving this email as you are registered to receive updates on Stranoch wind farm.

This week we have started construction for Stranoch wind farm.

We are working closely with Dumfries and Galloway Council and our contractors I&H Brown as this next phase begins. We are working hard to minimise the disruption to residents and businesses in the area as far as possible and aim to keep you informed as the works progress.

We will share a more detailed timeline for the works over the coming weeks, as the activity on and around the site increases.

In the immediate future, there will be an increase in traffic and lorries in the area. The initial works will involve stone and other raw materials being delivered to the site over the next eight to 10 weeks. Where possible, they will be making use of the new laybys across the U90w and U84w, however please drive with caution. All contractors are also briefed to only use the newly-installed bridge to access the site and no other route.

Please be advised that there may be an increase in noise, traffic and dirt during this time, and we apologise in advance if that is the case or that you are inconvenienced in any way by this.

Regular monitoring of the roads in the area that we are using will take place and any potholes or similar will be rectified as a matter of course.

This week we are sending out a leaflet (see attached) by post to residents in the immediate and wider area and writing to all those who may have an interest in the project. This also contains details of news that the electricity from the wind farm will be bought by two businesses – Tesco and BAE Systems – with a third to be announced in due course.
Please let the CCC know if you have any questions you'd like raised to the wind farm.
