Budget Consultation 2025/26: Take the Budget Challenge
Teams have been out meeting with members of the public and receiving their feedback as part of our budget consultation and informing council budget priorities for Dumfries and Galloway.
There are only two Community Conversation drop-in sessions to go, where council officers can help guide you through the survey and answer questions about the budget consultation. These are:
26 November. Moffat Town Hall, Moffat from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
26 November. DG1 Leisure Complex, Dumfries from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
The budget consultation survey includes 48 budget savings options for you to review. This is your chance to let us know which services matter most to you. For a more hands-on experience, try our Budget Challenge to explore different ways of balancing the council budget.
This challenge looks to identify savings from key service areas that share a total of £443.8m. You need to identify £30m worth of savings to balance the budget. To do this, you will need to make cuts to budgets in key service areas, choose to generate additional income and choose to invest in key areas.
You will start with the total budget for each service area and you can choose to reduce any of the budgets by moving a slider to the left, or 'protect' the service budget by leaving it as it is.
The consultation runs until midday Friday, 6 December. Feedback will inform spending priorities at our council’s budget meeting in late February 2025.
